I don't regard this as a home page. It isn't an exhaustive attempt to show who I am, with snapshots of scattered bits of my life. It's just a place for some of my things. These may not even be the things most worthy of being online. They're probably the ones I haven't misplaced or the ones people seem interested in.

I think of 'home' as comfortable people and motifs rather more than one specific place I would spend the rest of my life. Hence the title. I return every so often to throw more junk onto these pages.

I might put a general CV up here somewhere, but it's more likely to be on my business site. For most purposes, it suffices to say that I am an anthropologist whose current work involves intercultural relations. I also have several years' experience in proofreading and copy editing, although the contents of this site don't represent a product of such work. I offer other services as well, such as one-on-one work with translators, especially those in Finland. Feel free to contact me if interested in any of the above.

I should put a 'who I am' page here somewhere. If such a thing exists, even in an embryonic state, it will be here.

Here you will find the archives of an informal weird news mailing I send to a few friends. These are news stories that answer such questions as 'Are there any new loony criminals in Florida?', 'What is so weird about my country?', and 'What did Anna tell me about that lady with a huge hairball in her stomach?' without delving into the murky waters of urban legend.

  Here is where I ended up when I entered the world. Well, actually I was brought to my parents in a Christmas stocking, but a container's a container. I may put some family information online, but this link is likely to remain as it is for the moment. This information is largely for the benefit of those who may be able to add to it, and for my own sanity as I try to keep an organised record of my family's roots. Initially, this will consist of the Czech (paternal) side of my family. It will include as many dates as I know, some photographs, and perhaps a few stories as well.
  What is not here includes information on twentieth-century collateral relatives (I may put this in later when I want to go more nuts) and more specific information (stalkers' heaven) on living people. If you want this information, you will have to convince me you need it. So there. One more thing: I welcome constructive suggestions for improving the interface.

  Maybe you're here because I talked with you about music. If so, you probably want this link, containing music that is generally crisp, sometimes big (not in the Big Band sense), and eclectic enough to defy easy categorisation. This is not an exhaustive list. For a larger list, please contact me.
  Yes, it's a lot of music. I like life and its protuberances. These include the aforelinked music, various kinds of food of sufficient quality and in sufficient quantities--for more specifics, I guess you'll just have to feed me and see if I object or not--and friends, and so forth. All right, I should probably do a proper homepage-esque autobiographical whatsit.
